It was established in California in 1999 (originally named Optimal Performance Institute).
Wexford University is the upper education division of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association), a fitness, nutrition and sports performance association providing professional certifications and career development services, and the Spencer Institute which provides coaching and wellness credentials. Both were established in 1992. Working together, you are given more options for your education, certifications, degrees, job opportunities and entrepreneurial development.
Wexford University accepts students from around the world. If you are a non-U.S. student, you will be given information specific to foreign students.
All degree programs are delivered online through the university’s LMS (learning management system) with supplemental textbooks for some courses. Degree programs are on an open entry basis. You can apply at any time and begin your degree program immediately. Continuing Education Courses and the Personal Trainer Certification are also offered in an on-going and open-enrollment format.

Wexford University requires neither on-campus residence nor classroom attendance. All course requirements will be completed through your online learning portal and textbook (for some courses) under university supervision.
